In 2010, Mr. Samuel Harrell, the creator of HonuaTree was always eager to take on demanding roles in the US Virgin Islands. Mr. Harrell volunteered as our on-island liaison for our Football & Life Skills Camp, an impactful youth outreach initiative attended by hundreds of youth, volunteers and celebrity guests. Mr. Harrell handled inbound and outbound logistics for materials and equipment. He coordinated volunteers and managed them before, during and after our programming. He built and secured relationships with sponsors and donors enabling Youth Lifeline America to expand our resource pool to begin a chapter in the United States Virgin Islands. Senior Citizens Mentorship Program
Labeled the Rincon Country Rally Days, this was a unique intergenerational event designed to connect the youth with residents of a 55+ seniors community. The aim of the program was to create a mentoring opportunity where seniors could share their life experiences, wisdom, and encouragement with the young participants, fostering mutual growth and understanding.
The 2015 Senior Citizens Mentorship Porgram, held at Rincon Country Modile Home Park in Tucson, Arizona, was a memorable three-day event headlined by NFL Super Bowl Champion Roland Williams and supported by Olympic Gold Medalist Dee Trotter. Sponsored by numerous local vendors, this event was designed to provide youth with both social interaction and fun, while also fostering intergenerational mentorship and community engagement.
Football & Life Skills Camp
HonuaTree sponsors the Lyons Den Youth Empowerment Initiative, which is modeled after the Football & Life Skills Camp, that was developed by Roland Williams and Youth Lifeline America. As such, the Lyons Den is a comprehensive youth outreach initiative designed to provide young people with valuable athletic training and essential life skills. The camp serves as a platform for personal development, fostering both physical fitness and character building among its participants.
